It’s a Wrap!
Congratulations to All Our Readers on a Successful Read-A-Thon
A huge ROAR of thanks to all our Lakeridge Lions who participated in this year’s epic Read-A-Thon. We are so impressed by how hard students worked across all grade levels. In just 10 days, students read for a combined 5,334 hours outside of school and we had 263 kids who read every single day– wow! We also held our first ever Lion’s Share Book Exchange that packed the library at lunch last week.
All students received prizes for their efforts, and we were delighted to recognize some students with special awards. They include winners of the bookmark contest (Amayah Anle, Elin Nail, Hena Wang, Camille Korenblit, Grace Tan & Chloe Matukaitis, and Emma Jing), top readers in each class, top reader in the school (Audrey Day, 5th Grade), top reading class (Bobst), and top participating classes (Holland, Davis & Anderson).
Additionally, we are delighted to share that the Read-A-Thon met its fundraising goal. In addition to a banner year of reading, students raised $36,000 in donations – a record amount! This will cover the cost of a new swing and its installation to Lakeridge's playground. We are working to get the Oodle swing installed before the school year ends, likely May or early June. The nest-style swing fits four to six children and will be a favorite feature for our children's special playground.
Keep on reading!
